Five years of work, since 2021, €34.5 million budget… the Bellengreville-Vimont deviation is one of the most important road projects in the Calvados. This involves developing a 4.1 km dual carriageway east of Caen with the construction of four bridges.

The RD 227 open and soon the VC3
“The work undertaken on the RD 227 (construction of the engineering structure which spans the future diversion, earthworks and roadway to restore the RD 227) is now completed and this road is now reopened to trafficfrom this Thursday, October 31, 2024 in the afternoon,” communicates the Department of Calvados, which is leading the project.
Another road closed to traffic, “communal road 3, restored by the second overpass, will be put into service during the month of November, with some finishing touches still in progress,” specifies the Department's communications service.

The rest of the project “will see the construction of the earthworks and the sanitation of the diversion before the final roadway”.
Awaited for nearly 40 years on a road where more than 20,000 vehicles travel every day, the opening of the Vimont-Bellengreville deviation to the public is planned for summer 2026.
