the essential
From November 2 to 23, around twenty screenings will be offered in libraries in the department. For this, for 10 years, the media library, which supports the organization, has done everything possible to ensure the success of these evenings.
This year again, Aveyron, through its departmental media library, is taking part in Documentary Film Month. A national event created in 2000, in which the Department is participating for the tenth year. By preparing it in its own way, so to speak. This year, in fact, he chose to approach it on the following theme: “What do we have on our plate?”. And to do this, he selected around fifteen films, under the direction of film historian Federico Rossin, for around twenty screenings in as many municipalities.
We must keep in mind that, if we want to image, it is not a fast food service that is offered with this documentary film month, but rather a three-star service. Training for librarians who will ensure the animation of these movie evenings, intervention of “Mondes et multitudes” to ensure a good projection in places which are not equipped for it, presence of a speaker of choice for each of the screenings, animations on this same theme in the libraries… The departmental media library, under the leadership of its president Olivier Rocher and the project manager for this operation, Roxane Jouanneau, are pulling out all the stops!
Around twenty screenings throughout the department
“And we insist on it. This is how we have on average more than forty people on average for these screenings when, nationally, it is around twenty. We are even starting to build the loyalty of an audience who does not hesitate to travel a few kilometers to attend several screenings”rejoices Olivier Rocher. For whom the role of departmental libraries, coordinated by the departmental media library, goes well beyond “simple loan of books”. “It is a cultural player in the region in its own right.”
And we can say that there will be room for debate around these twenty proposed screenings, the documentary film being an exercise in which “the director deliberately takes sides”as recalled by Roxane Jouanneau, who worked with the librarians to organize the screenings in order to provide a good coverage of the territory.
From starred cuisine with the Troigros to the short circuit, including junk food, the culinary treasure of Morocco, peasant life, supermarkets or the four seasons of a vineyard, the menu will be varied! There will truly be something for everyone. In addition, several events are offered in the libraries, including a movie day, Friday November 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Departmental Archives of Rodez. Intended for librarians, it is open to everyone and invites you to get to know the work of Luc Moullet, and to enjoy his burlesque documentaries.
Visit the departmental media library website for the complete program for this month which will take place throughout the department from November 2 to 23.
