After the famous Golden Owl treasure hunt, a game by Régis Hauser and Michel Becker, here is Exkalibur, the brand new treasure hunt imagined by Puy du Fou. Presented during the theme park's annual conference, by Nicolas de Villiers, on October 25, 2024, this hunt takes the form of a quest in 12 puzzles. These will lead the curious who solve them to the “sword of King Arthur”, renamed for the occasion “Exkalibur”, with a k. An event which will begin on May 22, 2025.
An exceptional treasure protected by 12 enigmas
This precious and very expensive treasure was forged in France in the purest tradition of the Middle Ages. Made in 6 months by Atelier Thibaud, at the foot of the city of Carcassonne, this sword was also set by the best jewelers in France. Entirely covered in gold, it is embellished with a “red spinel – a precious stone – of 6.23 carats in the pommel”, details the amusement park. This sword weighs a total of 3.4 kilos and 124 centimeters and will go to the winner of the treasure hunt.
To find it, you will have to decipher 12 “calligraphic enigmas” on animal skin – inviolable by artificial intelligence – and 12 manually painted illuminations accompanied by a treasure map. The Vendée organizers assure that this sword is hidden “somewhere in the kingdom of France or perhaps even in a kingdom which was once linked to France by lineage”, such as Portugal, Spain, Andorra, United Kingdom or Ireland. The rules of the game note, however, that “the location of the Treasure is not located on private land”. Enough to whet the curiosity of the general public and seasoned hunters who will have until June 1, 2030 to find it. After this date, the park will decide “either to continue the game or to stop the game and, where applicable, to allocate the winnings for the benefit of any charitable or humanitarian entity, or for the benefit of the organization of a new event “.
