In the village of Plouy Saint-Lucien, located not far from Beauvais airport, the passage of a plane goes so far as to remove the tiles from a house. According to France 3 Regions, three roofs were damaged during plane landings.
An impressive phenomenon. In the hamlet of Plouy Saint-Lucien on Friday October 25, there was anger for a couple living in this small village in the Oise. Tiles from their roof were blown away by the blast of a plane flying over their house. In an interview with France 3 Régions, she explains that this is the second time in three weeks that her house has been affected by this impressive phenomenon.
“Our insurance does not cover the damage, it considers that it was caused by a professional and that it is up to him to take responsibility.”, declares Hortense Gatteau. Even if the airline and the airport refused to acknowledge any responsibility, this time the couple was present at the time of the incident and can therefore target the planes that caused this damage.
Three incidents reported since 2011
The couple's case is not unique. The neighborhood is often subject to this type of phenomenon since, not far away, another resident saw his roof suffer the same fate following the landing of a plane. “It happened to us once, in 2020, and the City reimbursed us for the excess of 180 euros“, he tells Courrier Picard. A little further away, a third incident affected a resident who saw tiles being carried away by the breath of planes on four occasions.
The vice-president of the Agglomeration, Jacques Doridam, went to the site on Friday October 25 to see the damage: “Tthree flights and three houses affected, this is abnormal, even if the weather conditions can play a role”, he told Courrier Picard.
The Beauvais airport joint union announced the opening of an investigation to determine the causes of the incident. The results of the investigation will be made public on Monday October 28.
