Antoine Dupont, back in the French XV after his golden parenthesis at VII during the Paris Games, will regain the captaincy during the autumn tour, the French Rugby Federation (FFR) announced on Monday.
“Antoine Dupont will be the captain of the French XV for the Autumn Nations Series 2024”writes the FFR in a press release.
The French rugby star (27 years old, 52 caps, 13 tries) has not played in the French XV since the defeat against South Africa (29-28) in the quarter-final of the World Cup on October 15, 2023.
The scrum half then skipped the Six Nations Tournament to concentrate on rugby sevens: he won the Holy Grail by winning the gold medal this summer with his partners at the Paris Games.
After several months of break, Dupont resumed with his club Toulouse, offering himself a hat-trick for his first match, last October 12 against Clermont (48-14) during the 6th day of the Top 14.
In his absence, La Rochelle third row Grégory Alldritt was captain.
The French XV will face Japan on November 9, New Zealand on November 16 and Argentina on November 22 as part of the fall tour.
