Mountain enthusiasts will be able to enjoy quick and comfortable journeys to Alpine peaks without worrying about winter traffic. Trenitalia, which can no longer operate its Paris-Milan connections since the landslide in Maurienne this summer, is taking the opportunity to refocus its offer in France. Train frequencies between Paris and Lyon have been increased, from three to five round trips daily.

The “Ferrari of rails” conquers the mountains

This new route is a response to the growing demand for travel to the Alps and also makes it possible to compensate for the reduction in journeys to Milan, explains Fabrice Toledano, marketing director of Trenitalia France, in comments echoed by Progress. Currently, the occupancy rate of trains between Paris and Lyon is 60 to 65%, compared to 85% on the Paris-Milan line before the incident.

With this special service to Savoie, Trenitalia intends to facilitate access to the stations while positioning itself as an essential player in mountain mobility this winter.
