Finistère at half mast, three cards… What to remember from the 6th round of the Coupe de

The sixth round of the Coupe de in was short on surprises but confirmed a trend: this is not the year for Finistère clubs.

Favorites who assume

It's rare enough to be underlined: the sixth round of the Coupe de France in Brittany held no surprises! All the clubs presented as favorites on paper enforced the hierarchy. Even if Milizac (N3) suffered a lot at Cep (R2), snatching his victory (0-1) in the… eighth minute of added time in the second half (90'+ 8). ASC Romagné (R3) found itself in a position to create the feat against CO Briochin (R1), but the Bretillians lost on penalties. Finally, Baud FC (R2) also managed to hold off US Concarneau (National), with a goalless draw at the break (0-0), but conceded two goals after half-time.

With eight goals scored against CPB Bréquigny (R1), AS Vitré (N3) signed the big card of the weekend (8-0). A hat-trick from Martin (45', 61', 65') notably marked the performance of the locals in this 100% Bretillian duel where the teams were only one division apart. The other setback of the day was inflicted by another club from Ille-et-Vilaine: OC Cesson (N3), which scored five goals against Trégunc (5-0). The suburbs opened the scoring in the… second minute (Leray, 2'). Defeated by AS Uzel-Merléac (R3) for almost an hour, Stade Briochin ended up winning by four goals (4-0).

Only two representatives from Finistère left

There were six on the starting line for this sixth round, there are only two left for the next round: US Concarneau (National), Saint-Pierre Milizac (N3) are the only survivors from Finistère in the Cup from France. En Avant Saint-Renan (R1) logically fell against Saint-Co Locminé (1-2), just like Trégunc in Cesson, or even Ergué-Armel (R2) against Dinan Léhon (N2) (0-3 ) and DC Carhaix (R3) against AS Ginglin-Cesson (R1) (0-3). Finistère will be the least represented Breton department in the 7th round, after Ille-et-Vilaine (4), Morbihan (5) and Côtes-d'Armor (6), counting the entries in the running from En Before Guingamp and FC Lorient, and before that of Stade Brestois, in the eighth round.

Two Little Thumbs

Ruffiac-Malestroit writes one of the most beautiful pages in its history. The small Morbihan club, resident of Regional 2, qualified for the first time for the seventh round of the Coupe de France, thanks to a crazy success on penalties, made possible thanks to an equalizer in extremis (1-1 , 89') in Auray (R2). He will appear as the Breton Tom Thumb in the next round, with Stade Paimpolais (R2), victorious (2-1) over the Enfants de Guer (R3).
