This is new recognition for the de site. The famous karst chasm of Vaucluse joined the list of 200 geological heritage sites of theInternational Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS). This global recognition was made official during the 37th International Geological Congress held in Busan, Republic of Korea, on August 27.

International recognition for La Fontaine de Vaucluse

« This recognition highlights the unique scientific and natural importance of the Fontaine de Vaucluse », advances the Mixed Syndicate of the Sorgues Basin which is responsible for the management of this site frequented each year by 800 000 visitors.

« La Fontaine de Vaucluse thus joins a restricted circle of recognized geological sites for their exceptional value in understanding geological processes and Earth history », adds the mixed union.
