Bassirou Diomaye Faye invites the Senegalese to exercise restraint in their speeches.

In front of the press, this Friday, the Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, invited the Senegalese to exercise restraint in their speeches and in their behavior a few days before the start of the legislative elections on November 17, 2024.
“As the electoral campaign for the legislative elections approaches, I invite all Senegalese, in particular political actors, whatever the sides, to avoid excesses in their speeches and their actions. “In recent days, we have observed comments and behaviors that carry community overtones, as well as verbal threats in the public media space and on social networks,” declared the Head of State.

He continues, “this is not how we should express our differences.” Elections are crucial moments of democratic choices, a moment of celebration and not a pretext for discord. I therefore call on each actor to demonstrate responsibility, restraint and moderation. We must all, collectively, preserve what is precious to us, namely our stability and our democracy. Certainly, the challenges are numerous and I would like to affirm with conviction that Senegal is on the path to recovery,” suggests the president who received some of the press at the Palace.
