a TER train derails, passengers and driver taken care of by emergency services

An incident occurred this Friday, October 25 in Lozere. And train derailed in the early evening, around 7 p.m. The accident occurred near the town of Saint-André-Capcèzebetween Génolhac et Villefort. The TER train carried 53 passengers. According to initial information, two injured are to be deplored. It would be the driver and a passenger, taken care of by the firefighters. There SNCF activated its national crisis unit. According to initial findings, it is very likely that heavy rains are the cause of the derailment. Indeed, a landslide took place near the railway. Passengers are taken care of by the emergency services in the gymnasium Villefort.

The Prefecture of Lozère states: “ For any information relating to this incident, the prefecture is available to the public at 04 66 49 60 00 ». The SNCF is setting up, from this Saturday October 26, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., a psychological assistance number: 0 800 120 821. Rail traffic is obviously interrupted. According to SNCF, the traffic interruption is expected to last several days, at least until Thursday October 31.
