Vendée Golf sets sail again in Saint-Jean-de-Monts

A few days before the start of the Vendée Globe, the Vendée Golf brought together for the second time a few skippers and their teams on the superb Saint-Jean-de-Monts course. After a first edition in 2016 and a cancellation following covid in 2020, the route located one hour from Les Sables-d'Olonne, the starting town for the tenth edition of this individual race around the world, once again delighted the heroes of the wide open and the followers.

Four teams of sailors, including two skippers, responded to the invitation from Antoine Robin (Come Together) for this second Vendée Golf. Organized Monday October 21 in the morning on the superb Saint-Jean-de-Monts course, one hour from the town of the big start of the 10th Vendée Globe in Les Sables-d'Olonnes, the Vendée Golf was miraculously contested without a single drop of rain, although the region was copiously rained the night before and in the afternoon!

Known for the diversity of its layout with an outward course in the forest and a return course in pure links, as well as its playability all year round thanks to a sandy subsoil, the Saint-Jean-de-Monts Golf course has kept all its promises.

This is the Chinese skipper's Singchain Team Haikou Jingkun Xu, absent from the competition (he lost his left arm at the age of twelve) who won the event, ahead of the Japanese bomber's Team DMG Mori Kojiro Shiraishiaccustomed to shining clubs in hand. “I usually play near Yokohama where I livehe explained. And when I'm in France near Lorient, there are lots of nice courses nearby where I can relax.»

Accustomed to the foiling monohulls of the Figaro Beneteau class, Swimming Takasi (left in the photo below) completes the podium with his Team Chocolat Réauté.
