The trial began on Monday September 2, Gisèle Pelicot will therefore be heard a little over eight weeks later. This eighth week is dedicated to the seventh group of co-accused, there are six to appear.
At this stage, Gisèle Pelicot spoke only once, during the first week of the hearing. “For several weeks, she has heard a lot of things […] which sometimes offends her, hurts her or even revolts her, but the time of the hearing is done in such a way thatshe can't speak when she wants“, indicates Maître Stéphane Babonneau. But last week, the president of the departmental criminal court of Vaucluse declared that Madame Pelicot could have the possibility of expressing herself on these first weeks of trial if she wished.
“She will take this opportunity to speak out about what she heard”
“She will seize this opportunity to speak out about what she heardon what she thinks and how she feels everything that has been said since the start of the trialadds Maître Stéphane Babonneau. The opportunity offered to him to express himself is something important. I think that if the court decided to give him the floor again, it is not only to give him the opportunity to express himself, it is also for the court (a means, editor's note.) to hear what she has to say and with the aim of being able to judge this matter better.”
