Last May, for four days, the Manjas Camins went to the banks of the Arcachon Basin to discover the seaside landscapes, its dunes and its forests. Pleasantly guided by members of a local club, friendships were created.
As part of these new exchanges, the Manjas Camins received, last weekend, hikers from the Arcachon Basin, precisely from Arès, in the north of the Basin. A program has been put together for them so that they can immerse themselves in everything that makes West Aveyron unique. For four days, the change of scenery was intense for these seaside people. Discovery of sites, bastides, villages, vineyards, gastronomy, all typical of our region.
Started on Friday with a detailed visit to Villefranche-de-Rouergue, the next day, direction Cassagnes-Comtaux, in the Marcillac valley, to discover, through a 13 km circuit and 340 m of altitude difference, the vineyards in autumn colors. The day continued with a visit to the castle, garden and village of Bournazel.
On Sunday, among the prehistoric constructions of dolmens and other caselles, on a 10 km discovery circuit on the lands of Martiel, stroll in a world more than four thousand years old. In the afternoon, to go back in time and bring back a lot of youthful memories to white heads, visit the Jean-Marie Périer Photo Gallery in Villeneuve d’Aveyron. What followed was a stroll through the alleys of the Bastide, newly labeled “Most beautiful village in France”, the eleventh in Aveyron. Everything greatly surprised and appreciated the Girondin visitors.
At the time of separation, what we can remember, and it is unanimous, is the desire to continue these exchanges, in order to share discoveries of places, gastronomy, way of living in another region of France . And, just to punctuate the end of their stay in Rouergue with a highlight, the Arcachonnais, on the road back, could only stop to visit the legendary Lotois village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. Another place, another story which has finally satisfied them, simply arousing the desire to quickly return to this country which conquered them.
