On October 26 and 27, the Department of Charente-Maritime will organize the 10th edition of Atlantic Lan, the general public video games event at the Maison de la Charente-Maritime in La Rochelle.
For two days, more than a hundred players from all over France will challenge each other in tournaments on the games “EA FC25” (single player) and “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” (duo); and the general public will be able to test and share a large number of activities with their family: virtual reality, retrogaming, Just Dance, Minecraft, etc. A complete event dedicated to youth and families, which also links professional training, social inclusion and disability through the world of video games.
Last year, more than 2,100 visitors enjoyed this intense gaming experience.
Virtual reality
Dedicated since its creation to young people and families, the Atrium of the Maison de la Charente-Maritime will be the space for free access activities.
For two days, young and old will try their hand at virtual reality, retrogaming (MS Pacman, Super Mario 3, Sonic 2 the Hedgehog), Minecraft®, or even Just Dance.
A final wall
New for 2024: a digital wall is set up so that players can compete solo or between teams on
memory, reflex, skill or precision activities. A Sports & Digital space allowing you to combine sporting activities and video games (driving simulator, ping pong in virtual reality, laser rifle, bicycle, etc.).
An edutainment universe will also be installed to keep children under 6 occupied with board games and creative workshops.
Conferences
Two conferences on “screen addiction” will help parents, educators and children use video games (Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m., upon registration). A family escape game lasting around fifteen minutes will also address issues of cybersecurity and personal data protection. This is a tool that will be used on a daily basis by the Department’s digital advisors to explain these concepts in a practical and fun way.
Finally, for seasoned gamers, the Atlantic Lan weekend is the opportunity to compete on EA FC25® on Saturday (single player) and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe® on Sunday (duo).
