The video showing her being carried away by the waves had gone viral: Panga, who had become symbol of devastating floods in the Center-East, was found dead, her breeders indicated on social networks.

Panga was part of a herd of five cows which had been caught by the waters of the Lignon, which entered a historic flood at the height of the floods, Thursday October 17, 2024.

“They were surrounded by the Lignon. There was at least 1.50 meters of water on the plot with a strong current,” said Étienne Valla, the owner of the livestock, in a video from the local daily Le Progrès.

Four cows were saved

“Four fled to the banks and the fifth (Panga) went wandering,” he added.

The images of the waves carrying away like a wisp of straw the cow that struggles to keep its head above water have been making the rounds on social networks.

“Thank you to the firefighters for their help and to all the people affected by this story,” conclude the breeders in their Facebook message.
