Caught at 175 km/h instead of 80 km/h in Haute-Savoie, a motorcyclist explains having wanted to “have fun”

The gendarmes of the Saint-Julien-en-Genevois motorized platoon fined a motorcyclist driving at very high speed in Haute-Savoie. Traveling at 175 km/h on a road limited to 80 km/h, the driver justified his excessive speed by a desire to “have fun”.

This Sunday, October 20, the gendarmes of the motorized platoon of Saint-Julien-en-Genevois did not expect such excessive speed. On departmental road 992 between Jonzier and Epagny in Haute-Savoie, 5 license retentions were noted for speeding above 40 km/h, in particular a motorcycle traveling well above the authorized limit.

The Ducati brand vehicle was taken at 175 km/h instead of the 80 km/h authorized on this axis. The driver, aged 27, was driving in the direction of Frangy and was fined by the police a few minutes after this excessive speed.

The chosen speed is 166 km/h. The driver, an engineer working in Switzerland and residing in Dingy-en-Vuache, explained to the gendarmes, “returning from a walk and wanting to have fun by accelerating“, reports the motorized peloton of Saint-Julien-en-Genevois in a press release.

Despite his arguments, the biker had his license withdrawn on the spot, pending a suspension which will be decided by the sub-prefect of Saint-Julien-en-Genevois. The Ducati brand motorcycle was impounded.
