The French army meets young Lot-et-Garonnais

A somewhat special “external operation” took place on the tarmac of – La Garenne airport for the soldiers who left their barracks for a few hours.

Illustration of a stated desire to increase communication actions aimed at cultivating the link between the armed forces and youth, meetings, exchanges and spectacular demonstrations took place despite the capricious weather of the last few days.

Objective: create connections!

The Army is very present in the department with the 48th Signals Regiment and the departmental military delegation. Together, they organized the reception of several hundred young people to introduce them to the opportunities offered by the armies. Less present in Lot-et-Garonne, the National Navy as well as the Air and Space Force were also there, as were veterans’ associations. The information and recruitment centers of the armed forces (Cirfa) were also present to inform young people of the opportunities offered by the French Army, the leading recruiter in with 26,000 hires each year.

The program aside from the weather

The rain which fell this Thursday in Lot-et-Garonne prevented the arrival of several flagships of the army such as the famous Rafale combat plane which was to be one of the star attractions of this day. Only a Xingu, a military aircraft of the National Navy from the 28F flotilla of Lann-Bihoué whose main missions are logistics, transport and instruction of young pilots, was able to land. However, numerous military equipment from the Agenais regiment (truck, armored vehicles, etc.) but also from the Mont-de-Marsan air base (fire rescue equipment) were present. We also found the 31st Engineer Regiment from Castelsarrasin or the 17th Parachute Engineer Regiment from who came with their mascot named Malizia, a superb 5-year-old bald eagle with a 1.70 m wingspan. A bird which aroused the enthusiasm of young visitors at least as much as the parachute jumping demonstrations.
