Seine-et-: beware of the Lupine software, it identifies thieves months and years later!

Everyone knows Lupin, first name Arsène, the gentleman burglar from the imagination of Maurice Leblanc whose novels have delighted us. But Lupine can also place himself on the side of the police officers who are leading the investigation… This is the acronym for Software for the Standardization of Identification Procedures.

Since 2014, it has been processing data from the automated national genetic fingerprint file (Fnaeg) and making it possible to make connections with perpetrators of theft or damage, based on their DNA, fingerprints, and even their operating mode, from when the alleged perpetrator has just been included.

This week, four investigations carried out by the Val de Seine urban police station took a big leap forward thanks to the “Lupin returns”.

Confused a year later, he admits

Thus the thief of a car in Savigny-le-Temple on April 17, 2024 was able to be identified thanks to a hair print. Aged twenty, he was arrested. We can imagine his surprise… He admitted the facts. Released, he will be judged on January 14, 2025.

Three burglary cases were also solved. Lupine helped confuse the author of the first clerk in Brie-Comte-Robert on October 3, 2023. He is a 48-year-old man, betrayed by his DNA traces left on a window… He had stolen jewelry and digital equipment in a pavilion. Located in prison for other obviously more recent facts, he admitted the break-in in Brie. He will be judged on March 3.

Victims can finally bring civil action

Thanks to Lupin, the perpetrator of another burglary committed on September 8, 2023 in Combs-la-Ville was identified by his DNA and hair traces. Also already incarcerated for other acts, he admitted this offense. Aged 38, he will be tried on March 3 as well.

Finally, proof that we must always keep hope, a burglary dating back to May 23, 2022 in La Rochette has finally been solved! Thanks to three traces of DNA found on site. The man imprisoned in Fleury-Mérogis for another story says he does not remember… The date of his summons to the criminal court has not yet been set.

In all these cases, the victims are informed of this progress in the investigation and the hearing date. Even if it is too late to find the stolen car, jewelry, digital equipment and other objects, they can file a civil suit and claim damages.
