The wink will not have escaped Lot-et-Garonnais fans of the Emily in series– and there are many of them. Season 4 of this essential series has been available on Netflix since summer 2024.

A passage in

In episode 2, the heroine Emily Cooper played by Lily Collins, visit the house of the painter Monet and its garden from Giverny (Normandy). The guide tells and reveals an anecdote about the impressionist’s masterpieces… A anecdote historical.

She then refers to this place unavoidable of our departmental heritage: the water lily garden at Temple-sur-Lot (Lot-et-Garonne), Latour Marliac.

A large series of paintings

Indeed, it was in this nursery that the master came, at the end of the 19th century, to choose his plants, the fruits of his inspiration for a whole series of masterpieces, the water lilies. A series of around 250 paintings.

Monet bought all his aquatic plants from the Latour Marliac nursery. It was there that a whole new variety of particularly colorful water lilies had recently been created and which were presented in Paris at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1889.
