If the Biars-sur-Cère intercommunal swimming pool opened its doors at the beginning of August for the summer period, it is now, in the off-season, that it has just been inaugurated in the presence of the president of Cauvaldor, Jean-Claude Fouché , Claire Raulin prefect of Lot, Anne-Cécile Vialle sub-prefect of the district of Figeac, Christophe Proença deputy, Raphaël Daubet senator, Geneviève Lasfargues regional councilor, Serge Rigal president of the departmental council, and Angèle Préville new mayor of Biars-sur -Cere.
Biars-sur-Cère had a swimming pool built by the municipality in the 1960s, but the overall renovation of this equipment became essential! The project undertaken by Cauvaldor began in September 2022.
The development plan for community swimming pools sets as its main orientation the provision of Nordic pools in the territory in order to be able, in particular, to guarantee the learning of swimming in the school setting. In total, Cauvaldor has five outdoor aquatic facilities: Souillac, Gramat, Saint-Céré, Biars-sur-Cère and Sousceyrac-en-Quercy. This project benefited from subsidies from the State, the Occitanie region and the Lot department, up to 51%. Nearly €2,600,000 was invested in this renovation.
“This facility, which we have waited for so long, is much more than a simple place dedicated to leisure. It symbolizes cooperation, collective commitment and our shared ambition to best serve the general interest. The swimming pool has been redesigned to offering a relaxation space for families, a place of discovery for children, and an essential asset for learning to swim for both our children and our seniors,” said Jean-Claude Fouché, president of Cauvaldor.
Since August 3, nearly 3,000 swimmers have been able to enjoy two pools, a refreshment bar, a relaxation area, renovated changing rooms, an infirmary, toilets and showers. This swimming pool, accessible to people with reduced mobility, benefits everyone, including schools, leisure centers, clubs and individual bathers.
