First of all, it was a little after 11:30 p.m. when the alert was given following a first accident which occurred on departmental road 824 near the town of Rivière-Saas-et-Gourby, near Dax. Only one vehicle was involved in this off-road accident. No less than sixteen firefighters and five engines were deployed to the scene to take care of the three occupants of the vehicle.
After an initial assessment and regulation, the three people were categorized as relative emergency. Two men aged 21 and 43, suffering from trauma and various wounds, were treated by firefighters and transported to the spa town hospital center. A 32-year-old woman complaining of lower back pain was also referred to the same establishment for additional examinations.
The police went to the scene to regulate traffic and carry out observations to shed light on the reasons for this accident. The road services were also asked to provide the necessary signage for this type of event on a heavily used route, even late at night.
