The Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Mines received the management team of Woodside Energy this Friday. The delegation, composed of Richard Goyder, president of the group, Meg O’Neil, general manager, and Clives Jones, senior vice-president of Woodside Senegal, came to meet Birame Soulèye Diop to discuss the progress of the collaboration between Senegal and Woodside Energy as well as future opportunities for the Senegalese energy sector.
This meeting takes place in a strategic context where Senegal, with the support of leading international partners, seeks to become a key player in the global oil and gas industry. It comes a few days when the oil company, which exploits Senegalese oil from the Sangomar deposit, congratulated itself on having achieved a “solid performance” bringing “value to shareholders and laying the foundations for long-term success term”.
Remember that the figures for the third quarter of 2024 show 53.1 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe) produced. A record, according to Woodside, who also speaks of an increase of 20% compared to the last quarter.
