Threatening calls and confinements in schools: a 14-year-old boy arrested

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the recent wave of threatening calls made against schools in .

The Laval City Police Service (SPL) indicated that it had arrested the young person at his family home at the end of the day on Thursday. The residence was also searched.

The suspect, who appeared at the Youth Chamber, faces charges of threats, public mischief and non-compliance with conditions; he is due back in court on October 21. The teenager remains incarcerated until then.

Over the past two weeks, several schools have been the target of threatening comments.

On October 9, two schools were placed on lockdown after receiving such calls. On October 15, two other schools suffered the same fate. The next day, three secondary schools and a primary school were also placed on preventive lockdown.

The police did not specify whether the young person arrested was the author of these calls or whether he had accomplices. The investigation continues.
