In its latest bulletin, Météo- placed 37 departments on yellow flood alert for the day of Friday, October 18.

Take care when traveling. After the “exceptional” rains which fell on Thursday October 17 in the Center-East and South-East of France, the soils are waterlogged in certain areas of France. Thus, Météo-France forecasters have placed 37 departments on yellow alert for floods this Friday, October 18.

, , Tarn, Seine-Maritime, Saône-et-, Rhône, Hautes-Pyrénées, Puy-de-Dôme, Oise, Nièvre, , Lozère, Lot-et-Garonne, Lot, Loire-Atlantique, Haute-Loire, Isère, Indre-et-Loire, Indre, , Gers, Finistère, Eure-et- Loir, Eure, Dordogne, Creuse, Corrèze, Cher, Charente-Maritime, Charente, Aveyron, Ardennes, Ardèche, Alpes-Maritimes, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence , Allier and Aisne are thus affected by this yellow flood alert.

The rains “particularly intense on the reliefs of the Cévennes” which occurred during the day of Thursday October 17 caused “exceptional reactions from several watercourses”, specified Vigicrues in its latest bulletin. As a result, 5 departments were placed on orange flood alert this Friday, because of “significant floods affecting the Allier Brivadois, the Loire Forézienne, the Loire Vellave, the Rhône from to the sea, the upstream and the Average var”.

“Significant” flooding is possible during the day. Therefore, it is advisable to be extra vigilant as traffic conditions could become “difficult”. Power cuts are also planned.
