Morcote Castle, Tessin

About ten kilometers south of Lugano lies a medieval castle built in the 15th century.e century, architectural jewel overlooking Lake Lugano, Castello di Morcote. Its 10-hectare vineyard dotted with olive trees, orchards and even stone bastides creates an almost dreamlike atmosphere. Here, the recently renovated wine cellar runs entirely on solar energy. Having gone organic, the estate produces high-end wines based on Merlot, which are accompanied by delicate dishes served in an old sheepfold transformed into a high-altitude restaurant. Special mention to the Riserva Merlot which can be enjoyed with grilled meats cooked on the Feuerring (pierrade style).

Domaine du Burignon, Saint-Saphorin

Lavaux winegrowers make wine and sometimes food. And as their domains, strongholds of the Chasselas, often have breathtaking views, the combo is perfect! Our regional gem? The Domaine du Burignon. On the vineyard side, Luc Dubouloz manages the catering. It is headed by a duo of women, Anne Bussy and Maureen Wavre. We take advantage of its magnificent amphitheater-style terrace overlooking the vineyards and Lake Geneva to taste Valais trout or pike dumplings from Lavaux, accompanied by a good little 100% Chasselas!

Domaine de Chantemerle, Tartegnin

Run by the Jaccoud family for four generations, the Domaine de Chantemerle, located in the heart of the wine-growing village of Tartegnin, welcomes its guests in a former outbuilding of the Château de Bursins. Sit down in its historic 17th century cellare century, which serves as a dining room, is akin to uncorking a grand cru! There we devour traditional Swiss cuisine with which the wines of Domaine de Chantemerle (six white wines, three red wines and two rosés) pair perfectly.

Caves of the Abbey of Einsiedeln, Schwytz

The island of Ufnau (the largest in Switzerland) lies in the middle of the magnificent Lake Zurich. This veritable green island bristling with an abbey to which it belongs is classified as a nature reserve. It is easily accessible by boat or water taxi to discover the cultivation of its Pinot Noir and the local Räuschling grape variety. The abbey runs the restaurant on the island of Ufnau – Zu den Zwei Raben – from which you can admire the view of Lake Zurich and the vineyards, while enjoying a skewer of marinated beef rump and grilled vegetables, super tasty with herbal oil.
