The governor of the Saint-Louis region, Al Hassane Sall, went Wednesday to the bedside of residents and producers in the communes of Gaé and Richard-Toll impacted by the rising waters of the Senegal River, to provide them with support and assistance. compassion of the State.

“Since yesterday, we have been touring the region to inquire about the situation of the victims reported by the various prefects. Many residents reported having suffered damage caused by the rising waters of the Senegal River,” he said.

The governor visited the municipalities of Gaé and Richard-Toll, where he was able to observe the advance of water in places, damaging homes and agricultural developments.

He was accompanied by the prefect of the Dagana department, Ibrahima Ismail Ndiaye, a representative of the River Delta and Falémé Land Development and Exploitation Company (SAED) and officials of the decentralized services of the State.

Al Hassane Sall specifies that this visit represents for him the opportunity “to bring compassion and comfort to the impacted populations” and to the farmers whose developments were swallowed up by the waters of the Senegal River.

He explains that through this presence, the State of Senegal, through administrations and local authorities “wants to mark its presence alongside its population to support them in these difficult times”.

“I am committed to being alongside the populations to take charge of this crisis situation by providing assistance from the State in terms of equipment, but also methods of assistance with food so that these populations do not feel alone in such situations,” argued Mr. Sall.
