Three calves installed in a field in Sommery (Seine-Maritime) were taken at trap ce Thursday October 17, 2024. Two of them found themselves mired, probably following the heavy rains of recent weeks.

The calves apparently disappeared from radar on Wednesday evening.

With the night, it’s impossible to find them quickly. It was finally this Thursday morning that two of the animals were discovered in a difficult situation, stuck in a mixture of water and muddy ground. As for the third, he remained untraceable this Thursday morning.

At 9:15 a.m., the situation was critical in Sommery along the D915 at the height of the Hell Street and not far from the construction site of water retention basin.

A road marking was installed and the gendarmes ensured security on the site while waiting for the emergency services to find a solution to save the calves.

Firefighters specializing in water rescue

Assistance to the animals was provided by a team specializing in aquatic rescue and the fire-fighting veterinarian, using agricultural equipment.

In hypothermia the two calves were returned to the owner.
