Look no further for photographs of Georges Hoeflich in the streets of Durfort. Since this summer, the Maurensois photos have – as was planned when they were installed in June 2023 – given way to a brand new open-air exhibition imagined by the municipality of this small village in Lauragais nestled in the heart of the Montagne Noire.
More than a simple exhibition, this “thematic route” this time is dedicated to an otherwise famous artist: Jean de La Fontaine. Until the next summer season, residents and tourists passing through the area will be able to (re)immerse themselves in some of the Fables having made the reputation of this 17th century moraliste century. And this, in several ways.
Fables illustrated by artists and schoolchildren
Because the municipality of Durfort did not simply choose to display in its alleys the writings of this man of letters studied by a good number of schoolchildren. “We had the idea of highlighting the Fables de La Fontaine, but we wanted to do it a little more visually, with illustrations,” said the mayor of the town, Alain Malignonhas Voice of Midi Lauragais.
In total, 28 fables illustrated by 27 local amateur artists are therefore exposed to the open air in this setting. “We have collages, watercolor, oil painting, photography, patchwork…” In short, a summary of different artistic forms and techniques. Works to which are added those, equally remarkable, of the students of the Sorèze school which occupy an entire panel around The Hare and the Tortoise, The Raven and the Fox, The City Rat and the Country Rat…
A tour in the village
As usual, the thematic route begins at the footbridge spanning the Sor, which connects the Revel road to the car park located at the entrance to the town. And invites the public to stroll through the streets of Martineurs and des Récureurs or on Place le Plo.
