Fishermen on footyou will no longer be able to collect mussels these next few weeks at the Headquarters in Ouistrehamon the Côte de Nacre (Calvados).
A ban taken until December 31
The Calvados prefecture indicates this Wednesday October 16, 2024 that it has issued an order banning mussel fishing at this location until the end of the year, i.e. December 31, 2024.
Already prohibited since August 24, when heavy rains led to significant spills of raw water into the natural environment, mussel fishing has therefore seen its ban extended to Pointe du Siege due to this pollution.
Since this date, intense rainy episodes have continued and the health quality of the mussels at Pointe du Siège has continued to deteriorate.
Fishing for cockles, knives… already prohibited at the tip of the seat
As the winter season approaches, conducive to heavy precipitationthe prefecture preferred to extend this ban. Indeed, themicrobiological analysis carried out on molds taken at the tip of the seat in Ouistreham on September 23 confirmed this position of the prefecture.
As a reminder, the shore fishing burrowing shells (hulls, knives, tellines…) on the tip of the Seat remains prohibitedin accordance with the decree of the mayor of Ouistreham of July 5, 2022.
