There are only a few hours left to enjoy the sun’s rays… “A Cévennes episode will in fact begin on the night of Tuesday October 15 to Wednesday October 16. It should bring, in 24 hours, accumulations of between 150 and 200 mm,” indicates Nathalie Banasik, weather consultant at Météo-.

If this Cévennes episode is classic for the period, she underlines: “An undulating front, coming from the West, will sweep Ardèche then Drôme between Thursday October 17 and Friday October 18, and still bring accumulations.”

Ardèche was placed, this Wednesday, October 16 at 6 a.m., by Météo-France on orange “rain-flood” vigilance for today and tomorrow.

According to the Ardèche prefecture, “on already wet soils, the rain which started last night continues until, at least, Thursday, October 17 in the evening, with moderate intensities this Wednesday morning, less sustained during the day , but regaining intensity this evening and next night.” Adding: “Cumulations of 100 to 150 mm are expected this Wednesday in the Ardèche Cévennes, or even more than 200 mm locally. Lower Ardèche and the Rhône valley, on the other hand, will be less affected. For tomorrow Thursday, an additional 80 to 120 mm in the Cévennes, or even 150 to 200 mm locally, which brings the accumulations in 48 hours to more than 350 mm in places.”

For Wednesday October 16 from midnight, and the least until Thursday 17, the departments of , Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence are also placed on yellow alert for thunderstorms and rain-floods by Météo France.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop in the second part of the night with strong electrical activity. They would be accompanied locally by several showers with accumulations of up to 40 to 50 mm in a very short time. Finally, significant wind gusts of around 80 km/h would also be expected.

Marc Chappuis, prefect of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, recommends maintaining particular attention to the practice of activities sensitive to meteorological risk or exposed to floods. He also recommends keeping informed of developments in the situation.

In addition, Hautes-Alpes and Vaucluse are also affected from midnight to 10 a.m. Wednesday October 16.
