Cévennes episode in the : update on the state of the roads and rain-storm forecasts

The Gardon Alès, Anduze and Cèze upstream rivers are on yellow flood alert this Wednesday, October 16.

The first heavy rainfall fell in part of , and in particular in Nîmes this Wednesday, October 16 in the morning. The Gard plain was well watered as well as the Cévennes. The Weather Channel is already announcing 85 mm in Vigan with intensities of 10 to 15 mm per hour. On the Cévennes relief, we could reach between 200 and 300 millimeters, or more than a month of rain.

The department has been placed on orange alert for rain-flooding and thunderstorms since midnight. The weather will also deteriorate throughout the day and more so on Thursday, a day when it will be necessary to particularly monitor the precipitation totals and the state of several rivers.

Yellow flood alert

Those of Gardon Alès, Gardon Anduze and Cèze are already on yellow flood alert. In terms of traffic conditions, the Chamborigaud bridge was closed on Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. This Wednesday morning, at 9:30 a.m., on the Inforoute30.fr website, the Department indicates that the following bridges are no longer accessible: the footbridge at Anduze on the RD 129A, Massies at Thoiras on the RD 284A and that of Corbès on the RD 284.

The Gard prefecture indicates that it is necessary to remain cautious, limit travel, and not enter a submerged traffic lane.
