A 90-year-old woman dies after being hit by a fire department vehicle

In the Lot, a dramatic accident took place during an intervention by firefighters, according to The Dispatch. While emergency services were intervening to put out an agricultural machinery fire in Saint-Perdoux, at a place called Pech Blanc, an all-terrain vehicle belonging to a member of the team backed up and struck a 90-year-old woman.

The latter, after parking his vehicle on a slight slope, got off to ask the old lady for directions. That’s when the vehicle started moving, causing the fatal accident.

An ongoing investigation

The victim was crushed by the vehicle despite the firefighter’s attempt to intervene quickly and avoid the impact. Seriously injured, she was immediately treated by emergency services. An ambulance and a helicopter were dispatched to urgently transport her to Clermont-Ferrand hospital, but she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.

The Lot department is now the center of an investigation by local authorities and the fire service to understand the exact circumstances of this accident. According to the first elements, there is no trace of an offense linked to the state of the driver.
