On Saturday October 19, the Fabrique hall in Bonchamps-lès-Laval (Mayenne) will host Get the riff, the first metal rock festival in Mayenne. Interview with David Dreux, owner of the place.
How was this project born?
It is first of all to fill a void. There is no metal rock festival in Mayenne. The large hall of the Factory is ideal for this type of festival since it can accommodate up to 800 people. I did not want to carry out this project alone and I surrounded myself with experts. I asked Lorenzo and Stéphane from the group Darken as well as Franck Dod, a metal rock enthusiast, to give us the benefit of his impressive network and his contacts in this sector.
Which groups have you selected for this festival?
Six groups will be present. Our modern metal styled headliner Dropdead Chaos is a reunion of high end musicians from different bands. Created during the pandemic, this collective plays to support healthcare teams in France. Then come two groups from Laval, Genuine Leather which oscillates between rock and hard rock with touches of metal and Sujin, (ex-Whisper night) who will play their new modern metal album entitled Save Our Souls .
Next door, two groups created in 1999: Arcania comes to us from Angers (Maine-et-Loire) with powerful and melodic music that is worth the detour and Teska, with a modern thrash style, who come from Finistère. To finish and to stand out a little from the rest of the selection, the Toulon group Th3ory will present its Cyber Nu Metal concept in a deluge of lights and stage effects.
Is this festival intended to come back every year?
Absolutely. The idea of an annual metal festival has already attracted several groups who have already positioned themselves for a 2025 edition. We really want to perpetuate this project to offer a great program every year.
Saturday October 19, 2024, Get The Riff festival, at La Fabrique 10, rue de la Chambrouillère, in Bonchamp-lès-Laval. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. First concert at 5 p.m. Tickets available at usual points of sale and on the internet. Single price: €20 for reservation and €25 on site. Bar and catering on site.
