Controversy and spin surrounding the magazine of the Department of -Atlantique

The latest delivery of the -Atlantique departmental council magazine, which defends the action carried out mid-term by the community chaired by Michel Ménard (PS), is not to the taste of opposition elected officials (right and center) .

Laurent Turquois, mayor (various right) of Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, and departmental elected official, sees red this Monday, October 14, and threatens to refer the matter to the administrative judge, believing that n° 185 of the departmental magazine, publicly funded », contravenes the law by not reserving in the publication a space of expression » to the opposition.

A session that gets off to a flying start

Except here it is. When reading the said publication, we find a (small) forum from the “Democracy 44” group. Certainly, retorts Laurent Turquois, but This is just the “normal” section assigned to opposition groups in each community magazine. There, we’re talking about something else, a community that uses a tool to promote its results. A specific space for expression, dedicated to this subject, should therefore have been granted to the different groups. The law is clear and the case law consistent on this point .

It is still difficult to believe that the opposition will carry out its threat. There remains this certainty: the right and the center are not at all in phase with the policy pursued by the team in place. The tone is set for the work session which runs until Tuesday, October 15.
