Faced with inaction, internal doctors and residents on 3-day strike

Internal and resident doctors are preparing to make their voices heard through a 72-hour national strike, scheduled for October 15, 16 and 17. This action, which will take place in all of the country’s university hospitals (CHU), aims to protest against the total disregard of the Ministry of Health in the face of their demands. A situation which, according to them, has continued to deteriorate, directly impacting the quality of care provided to citizens.

In a poignant statement, the National Committee of Internal and Resident Doctors expressed its determination to carry out this strike, while ensuring that emergency, resuscitation and intensive care services remain operational. This movement will also be accompanied by local demonstrations in university hospitals in different cities, to denounce systematic ignorance which betrays a blatant lack of seriousness on the part of the ministry and its officials.

There is outrage among internists and residents over the continued inaction of the government, which appears to ignore their calls for accountability. These health professionals, engaged in their humanitarian missions, face precarious working conditions and deafening silence from the authorities, underlines the press release. They point to the unjustified delay of the supervisory ministry in responding to their legitimate demands, while they continue to provide care in often difficult environments.

The Committee also underlined that after a series of unsuccessful correspondences and meetings with those responsible, the ministry persists in dodging its responsibilities, noting that it remains silent in the face of the continuing crisis, without taking concrete measures to remedy the situation. situation. In this context, the Committee reaffirmed its desire to continue the struggle, intensifying its actions until their demands are heard and taken into account.

In a call for unity, the National Committee of Internists and Residents urges all interns and residents to actively participate in the strike and protests. They encourage them to gather around the local offices of the Committee to strengthen their solidarity in this struggle, until they obtain all their rights. The Committee does not hesitate to hold the government and the ministries concerned fully responsible for the serious consequences of this procrastination, urging them to act quickly and respond to their demands to guarantee the continuity of health services and protect the rights of interns and residents. .

The demands made by internal and resident doctors are clear. They ask in particular for the inclusion of their committee in all discussions relating to the application of law 08.22, which concerns the creation of territorial health groups (GST), as well as in the reform of the third cycle of medical studies. They also demand compensation of 12,000 dirhams for non-contractual residents, arguing that they provide the same services as their contractual counterparts, while holding the same diplomas.

In addition, the Committee calls for an increase in compensation for interns, emphasizing the fact that they provide essential services in hospital units and play a crucial role in emergency situations. Among their other demands are the reform of the evaluation of the specialty exam, with an increase in the weighting of internship and continuing education grades, while proposing the possibility of a remedial session.

Finally, they plead for an improvement in residency training, by establishing educational specifications for medical, pharmaceutical and dental specialties, integrating clear indicators guaranteeing theoretical and practical mastery of the specialties.
