: Pierre Bédier meeting local stakeholders in the canton of Saint-Germain-en-Laye

The visit of Pierre Bédier, president of the Departmental Council, to the canton of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, was rich in discussions. Accompanied by departmental advisors, Gwendoline Desforges and Arnaud Pericard, many themes were discussed during this day of meeting “The Department & you”. On the program: environment, works, sport and future developments.

Thursday, October 10, the new cantonal visit began in the commune of Étang-la-Ville, within the town hall, in the presence of Daniel Cornalba, mayor and 1st delegated community advisor in charge of Nature in the city and the Protection of forests.

The opportunity to discuss the agreement signed in favor of state-owned areas in the territory by the president of the Saint Germain Boucles de Seine urban community, Pierre Fond. This is a four-year program to preserve the Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Marly-le-Roi massifs.

Le Pecq: three major projects financed by the Department

The visit continued in another commune in the canton: Le Pecq. Several achievements supported by the Departmental Council were presented to Pierre Bédier, in particular the requalification and greening of the Ermitage district, the completion of which is scheduled for next August. “The important thing was to de-waterproof the soil, to revegetate this area which was quite mineral, to create suitable parking spaces and a city stadium”explained Gwendoline Desforges.

The discovery of the renovation of the “Le Quai 3” performance hall, in which the Department contributed €1.2 million, and whose inauguration is scheduled for September 2025, was also on the program: “This building from the 1920s needed a beautiful restoration”specified Gwendoline Desforges. Finally, the rehabilitation of the municipal swimming pool “Les Vignes-Benettes” with completion of work scheduled for August 2026, was also mentioned.

Sport, safety and convivial places in Saint-Germain-en-Laye

Next step, direction Saint-Germain-en-Laye with a passage on Place Michel Pericard, former mayor of the town. The visit continued at the “Quai des Possibles”, a former station near Tram 13, completely renovated and redesigned as an innovation ecosystem. “It is perhaps one of the most important third places in Ile-de-. Here, it’s teeming. You have coworking, social and solidarity economy, seminars…”specified Arnaud Pericard, mayor of Saint-Germain-en-Laye.

In the second part of the day, the President of the Department, a great fan of the oval ball, had the opportunity to discover the recent installations of the Stade Français rugby club, at Camp des Loges, and to talk with the teams and Thomas Lombard, general manager of the club. “They have made a special effort by investing in rehabilitation machines for better recovery of their players,” said Pierre Bédier.

The afternoon continued a few meters further, in the Galileo premises. This security monitoring center and global navigation satellite system of the European Union is also installed on the Camp des Loges military base.

An old station redeveloped in Mareil-Marly

Near Mareil-Marly, the president of the Department was able to discover “La Gare”. A place of conviviality open to all, located at the Tram 13 stop and created in the old station, for which the Departmental Council invested €167,326. The ideal opportunity for the mayor of the town, Dominique Lafon, to present the numerous projects implemented in favor of biodiversity: shared gardens, rehabilitation of wastelands, hiking trails, orchards, etc.

What future for the Chambourcy plain?

Finally, Pierre Morange, mayor of Chambourcy, welcomed Pierre Bédier and the departmental councilors for an exchange around the theme of health and the future of the Chambourcy plain.

To close this day, the president took part in a meeting at the town hall of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Different themes were discussed with elected officials, local stakeholders and residents of the canton, such as cycle paths and aid to municipalities.
