A 49-year-old man was sentenced to 18 years of criminal imprisonment by the North Assize Court, Friday October 11, 2024. On June 9, 2021, this misfit had beaten to death another homeless person in Dunkirk, reports The Voice of the North. A drama which took place against a backdrop of excessive alcohol consumption.
The victim, aged 36, was found brain dead in an apartment in the station area. The thirty-year-old died two days later in hospital, our colleagues recall. The man was arguing with his partner when the accused arrived. The latter then descended into incredible violence, kicking and punching the homeless man in the head.
Past violence
It was not the first time that the forty-year-old showed uncontrollable aggression, after consuming alcohol or drugs. He had already been convicted several times and spent half his life behind bars. During his trial before the assizes, he was unable to explain this outburst of violence against the victim. He was found guilty of homicide.
