In the context of the sale or reallocation of former closed colleges and schools in Bellerin hamlets, such as Frenières, Les Posses, Les Dévens, Fenalet and Le Châtel, the college of Plans-sur-Bex will pass from municipal property to private property. The Municipality has just drawn up and published a project which goes in the direction of the sale to a developer who will build “apartments intended as second homes”, indicates the municipal Jean-François Cossetto.

The selling municipality and the buyer have agreed to repurchase the plot for 465,000 francs. The deliberative body will debate and vote on this proposal on October 30 in plenum. As a reminder, the building of the former Plans-sur-Bex college, built in stages in 1877 and 1900, includes two floors and attics. But its great dilapidation required a complete rehabilitation costing around a million francs.

New community hall

We know – and the Municipal Council of the city of salt had mainly validated it this spring by previously providing 500,000 francs to the Municipality – the sum recovered by the sale will be allocated to the creation of a community hall. The future construction will be located in existing premises, in the center of this historic village of 131 souls. This will meet the need for space available for community and local life.

A small extension of the existing volumes is planned. The interior redevelopment will allow, in addition to the room, to add a fitted kitchen, bathrooms, outdoor space. The provision of public premises such as WCs accessible at all times and a changing room available as part of local sporting activities is also planned.

“We hope to be able to start work in April to be able to make the community hall available to local companies and other potential users before the end of 2025,” concludes the councilor.
