Cows and sheep can be vaccinated against bluetongue in Seine-et-

This is what the Ministry of Agriculture details in its latest update on the situation. The department is part of the very large northern half of in which breeders are eligible for BTV-3 vaccination to protect animals from the disease. South of this zone, only sheep (medium-sized ruminant animals) can receive the injection. The state has placed an order for 11.7 million doses of vaccine. Bluetongue is transmitted by biting midges. It causes fevers, respiratory difficulties in livestock as well as weight loss.
