Coupe de France: big first for Ruffiac-Malestroit (R2) in Combourg (D1)

Ruffiac-Malestroit and Combourg met this Sunday for a thrilling match. Despite an obvious hierarchy before the start of the match, it was the Blackcats who quickly opened the scoring, following a placement error on a free kick, benefiting Paul Guesdon (09′). At the half-hour mark, Maxime Michel’s men benefited from set pieces, without being dangerous. The match took another turn before halftime. After a handball in the Combourg area, the referee logically awarded a penalty, converted by Gilles Lamy (39′).

Ruffiac-Malestroit began the second act with more desire, but each incursion was annihilated by Quentin Letournoux’s teammates, well in place. Unable to achieve a second half without any real offensive activity, the two teams therefore played their qualification on penalties. At the end of a nervous session, both for the players and the managers, Ruffiac-Malestroit was going to seek an unprecedented qualification for the sixth round of the Coupe de France.
