A man died from his injuries after an altercation which degenerated on a platform of the Guy-Concordia metro station during the night from Saturday to Sunday. It’s the 29the murder of the year on the island of Montreal.
Around 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, the 37-year-old man was attacked by another man with a sharp object to the upper body on the platform towards the Honoré-Beaugrand terminus, explains Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Transportation Service. Montreal City Police (SPVM). The victim was then transported to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators from the SPVM major crimes section are on the case to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding the event, explains Mr. Brabant. There have been no arrests so far.
Trains began stopping at Guy-Concordia station again on Sunday morning.
A security perimeter has been erected on Boulevard De Maisonneuve and traffic is closed westbound from Rue Guy, adds Mr. Brabant. The cycle path and sidewalk are however accessible, as are the shops.
