Duels to watch: First round of the Battle of Alberta

A first Flames-Oilers duel this season

The Battle of Alberta will begin another chapter as the Calgary Flames come to Rogers Place to take on the Edmonton Oilers (8 p.m. ET; TVAS, SN, NHLN).

The two rivals are having opposite starts to the season. The Flames (2-0-0) will try to score a third victory in as many games, while the Oilers (0-2-0) suffered two losses in the curtain-raiser, scoring only two goals in two games. After being shut out 6-0 against the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday, they were surprised 5-2 by the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday.

Edmonton notably allowed five power play goals in its first two games.

The Flames were also in action on Saturday, defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 6-3 in their home opener. Jonathan Huberdeau had a four-point night (two goals, two assists) and rookie goaltender Dustin Wolf made 37 saves to sign the victory.

Last season, the Oilers won three of the four duels between the two Alberta teams.
