Speed dating pour Nounous ! Between 9:00 a.m. and noon, this Saturday, the “Les cigales” space in Rochefort-du-Gard hosted a somewhat special speed dating event. Thirteen childminders were waiting around a large table, to meet parents or future parents who are looking for individual childcare. A morning meeting organized by the early childhood relay of SIDSCAVAR, the intercommunal union for social development of the Cantons of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon and Roquemaure.

“I want it to remain something friendly, a first exchange with parents, explains Sylvie Robert, in charge of early childhood relay at SIDSCAVAR. There are a lot of childminders this year who are available, who are not working. This allows, during the year, the most delicate time for finding contracts, to work full time. So, it is a first meeting, see if there is an affinity with certain childminders. For the parent, it allows them to explain their need for care, and for childminders to talk about their way of working.”.

Among the parents who came to look for a nanny, there are Yvanna and Stéphane. “We ask for slightly atypical hours, on Wednesdays and during school holidays” explains the dad. Their son, four years old, is already going to school. This after-school care time does not suit Patricia: “but I’m waiting for other parents.” The principle of speed dating allows this childminder in Les Angles to choose which child she will work with: “I can’t have babies because I’m going to have one in November, and two babies professionally is complicated. Ideally ten -eight months, two years would be perfect” explains the nanny who has more than 20 years of career, convinced by the principle of these meetings.
