Morocco thanks for its support – La Nouvelle Tribune

The Roi Mohammed VI of Morocco expressed its gratitude to for its support for the Moroccan position on the issue of Sahara. This recognition comes in a context of positive dynamics for the Kingdom regarding this issue, considered the first national cause of Moroccans.

During a speech addressed to parliament, the Sovereign highlighted the support of the French Republic for the sovereignty of Morocco over the entire Saharan territory. France now supports the Autonomy Initiative proposed by Morocco, considering it the only viable basis for resolving this regional conflict.

The Monarch underlined the importance of this development, coming from a permanent member of the UN Security Council. He notably noted France’s in-depth knowledge of the issues at stake in this regional conflict, thus strengthening the scope of its support.

This position is part of a broader trend of international recognition. The King cited support from other influential actors, such as the United States, as well as many Arab and African countries. The latter showed their support in a concrete way, in particular by opening consulates in Laâyoune and Dakhla.

French support also aligns with the position of Spain and the majority of European Union countries, reinforcing the legitimacy of the Moroccan proposal. The Sovereign expressed his consideration towards these partners for their positions favorable to the cause of Morocco.

Beyond the diplomatic aspect, the King highlighted the economic implications of this international support. He thanked the countries that deal with the southern provinces as an integral part of the national territory, thus contributing to their socio-economic and cultural development.

The Monarch underlined the strategic importance of the Moroccan Sahara in continental initiatives, citing the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline project and the African Atlantic States Process. These projects strengthen the role of the Sahara as an axis of communication between Morocco and sub-Saharan Africa.

Diplomatic progress is accompanied by socio-economic development of the southern provinces, made possible by national solidarity. The King praised the efforts of Moroccan diplomacy, national institutions and all Moroccans, both inside and outside the country, to defend the interests of the Kingdom.

Finally, the Sovereign expressed his gratitude to the Sahrawi populations for their loyalty and their attachment to national symbols. Their commitment is presented as crucial in preserving the territorial integrity and stability of Morocco.
