The victims were informed

The accusations against him led to an extrajudicial criminal procedure (Editor’s note: an internal procedure within the Church) carried out by the Officiality of the Diocese of Paris, the ecclesiastical tribunal. “A first decision found him guilty and sentenced him to dismissal from the clerical state and excommunication” , continues Mgr Jacques Habert. He is therefore banned from any ministry, but can appeal this conviction. “The victims have been informed of this decision” , concludes the Bishop of Bayeux-Lisieux.

In 2022, the Mission Thérésienne association was abolished

Two years ago, in 2022, the bishop of Bayeux-Lisieux abolished the Thérésienne Mission, an association founded by Father Thévenin, to “significant dysfunctions”.

Father Thévenin had already been the subject of a complaint, followed by an investigation, without follow-up, before the installation of Mgr Habert, reported the magazine Christian Family in 2022.
