Based on Statistics Canada figures on salaries in food services and beverage establishments, the report published by the Association Restauration Québec (ARQ) is clear: Quebec stands out by posting salaries higher than the national average . And this, for a third consecutive year.

What you need to know: Quebecers who work in this sector earn an average hourly income of $25.70 – according to the most recent data (2023).

More concretely, this salary is $1.11/hour higher than for the entire workforce in Canada.

Over the past ten years, the average salary of these employees in Quebec has seen a significant change, going from $16.25/h in 2013 to $25.70/h last year. And this progression has reached highs since 2019, with a total increase of $6.93/hour over the last four years, which represents an impressive increase of 37%.
