The gendarmerie and the Hunters’ Federation renew their partnership agreement

This partnership agreement, signed this Friday, October 11, allows the gendarmes to train at the hunter shooting center, located at the hunting and nature school in Nîmes.

“You see, if we shoot 4 millimeter pellets at a distance of 80 meters, we scan an area of ​​100 meters. The mannequin, placed just behind the panel, allows us to show the range of the shot and, therefore, remind security measures”. This Friday, October 11, Daniel, trainer at the Nîmes hunting and nature school, presents the equipment from their shooting range to Colonel Emmanuel Casso, who recently took up his duties at the Gard gendarmerie. The opportunity to present the place, which is the only one outdoors in the south of , and above all, to renew the partnership agreement between the gendarmerie and the Departmental Federation of Hunters of Gard.

Collaborative work against poaching

“In addition to the shooting range that we use to train our gendarmes each year, this partnership also marks a coordinated collaboration during controls”underlines Colonel Casso. As an example, he recalls the seizure of cannabis in Vigan in 2020, after hunters discovered preparations for a future plantation. Or even for poaching cases. “It is also important to meet the hunters, of whom there are nearly 15,000 in our department, because during hunting accidents, when opening the investigation, their specialist perspective allows us to better understand what could have happened. pass and if there was a failure to respect the safety rules”underlines Abdelkrim Grini, prosecutor of Alès, also present on site.

This agreement is in its third renewal since its creation in Gard. It is re-signed during each change of command in the Gard gendarmerie and extends over three years, the duration of the commander’s mandate.
