As of Friday, Jasper residents and visitors will be able to travel on Maligne Road, says Randy Boissonnault, federal MP for Edmonton Center and new person in charge of the municipality’s reconstruction measures.
This road, which runs north of the lake of the same name and runs along Medicine Lake, had to close due to the complex of fires that ravaged part of Jasper last summer.

Federal authorities also announced the reopening of several attractions and sites of interest for tourists, such as Miette Hot Springs, Columbia Icefields, Sunwapta and Athabasca Falls as well as Pyramid and Annette Lakes.
Starting Thursday, visitors who want to reserve fall and winter backcountry campsites will be able to do so on the national park website.
