The impressive images of the Northern Lights observed this evening in

Following a major solar flare, the Northern Lights were observed during the night from Thursday to Friday. The phenomenon could be very intense.

Watch the sky tonight. Many French Internet users have shared images of the Northern Lights which light up the sky during the night from Thursday to Friday.

A major solar storm reached during the night of Thursday to Friday, October 11. Emitted by the Sun on the night of October 8 to 9, it will cause a geomagnetic storm which can cause these northern lights. These can be observed in many regions of the world: in Oceania, in North America but also in Europe and therefore in France.

“All the lights are green”

It is a magnificent spectacle which takes place in the French sky during this night. Many northern lights are visible. The light phenomenon is visible in several regions in France, from Lower to Yonne via the Alpes-Maritimes and the Massif Central.

Already last May, many French people had already observed the Northern Lights. “This is only the second time that such intensity has been reached since 2005. The previous time dates back to the famous May 10, 2024,” had noted earlier in the day the specialized media Ciel et Espace.

“All the lights are green,” warned astrophysicist at the Côte d’Azur Observatory Éric Lagadec on his X account. “Look to the north after sunset,” he then advised. The scientist also notes that the first northern lights appeared in New Zealand.

The phenomenon has also been observed in other countries, such as Russia or Norway.

All that remains is to hope that the clouds don’t spoil the show. According to Météo-France, only eastern France, Normandy and the Massif Central will be under clouds tonight.

In mid-September, the French sky had already seen the formation of the Northern Lights. A spectacle which was then immortalized by several Internet users.
