A flagrant investigation was opened by the Versailles public prosecutor’s office (Yvelines) after an extraordinary seizure of cocaine made this Tuesday evening at the Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines tollbooth (Yvelines). Motorway customs officers discovered 130 kg of cocaine in a Hungarian-registered truck, reports The Parisian.
The street value of the drug is around 8 million euros. Two men aged 54 and 57, of Hungarian nationality, were on board the heavy goods vehicle, which came from Spain, a source close to the case told France Bleu Paris. The suspects were arrested and taken into custody. The police did not immediately understand the importance of the volume of cocaine found.
One of the largest drug seizures since the start of the year
After intercepting and searching the truck and discovering bars of drugs in the cabin, they took the vehicle to the customs offices and then listed the discovered merchandise. They then saw that it was one of the largest drug seizures made in the sector since the start of the year.
